Why My Parents Are Cooler Than I'll Ever Be

So my mother just dropped a bomb of a story on me today...

Apparently, in 1969, my mother and father played with a band called the "Mother Pucker Jug Band." They were both in college at Colorado State University, and there band was invited to open for a band at the arena at the college.

It turns out that band was The Rolling Stones.

OK, so there's two questions I have:

1) Why was I never told about this?!
2) Why the hell did the Rolling Stones have a jug band open for them?!?!?

Being a somewhat skeptical person by nature, I decided to do a little research. The Rolling Stones? In Fort Collins? Yeah right.

It turns out, it true! Wikipedia says it was the first stop on their 1969 tour. This website even shows a ticket stub:

I haven't found any evidence of an opener anywhere, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one. A Google search for the "Mother Pucker Jug Band" yields nothing.

My mother claims that the Stones weren't really all that
big in 1969, but clearly she's misinformed. The '69 tour was the one featured in the movie "Gimme Shelter."(Though I don't think the CSU show is shown in the film) She must have been drinking a bit too much of whatever was in the jug before her band decided to play it...

In any case, my parents are clearly much cooler than I ever gave them credit for.
