Symphony Hour - A Boy and His Mother

Having a radio show on a Sunday can be kind of fun. Sunday doesn't seem to be a particularly great day for radio audiences, which I have always decided gives me free reign to play whatever the hell I want. I love the freedom to play very experimental classical music and engender a feeling of extreme annoyance amongst the Fort Collins population as a whole.

The other wonderful thing about a Sunday show is that I *always* get to do a Mother's Day show. The past 2 years I have presented a program that features, among other things, a suite taken from the soundtrack to the Alfred Hitchcock film, Psycho. It is, after all, a film that focuses on the relationship between a boy and his mother...

Many feel that this is completely inappropriate, but I'm starting to feel that it just wouldn't be Mother's Day without it. I'll be throwing in a bit of Gorecki's Symphony #3 as well. This should have the effect of darkening the mood even more.

If you're interested, the program runs from 4 to 5 PM (MST) today. You can tune in to KRFC 88.9 fm in Northern Colorado, or stream it online from KRFC's website at: www.krfcfm.org/listen.php

Happy Mother's Day!
